Brake Light Problems
I have a 1999 F150 and I installed a tailer brake controller last week, and noticed that the LED didn't come on until I hade already been on the brakes for awhile. While I thought this was strange I thought I just needed to have an a trailer attached and then set the brakes up.
BUT last night my girl friend was following me and said that my brake lights weren't always working. Upon further examination my lights do not come on until I am braking rather hard, about half way through the pedal's travel.
Is there a way to adjust when the brake lights come on or do I have to take it to a shop to have this fixed?
Any ideas are welcome as I don't feel safe towing a trailer, and I need to have this fixed by Thursday as we are buying a horse and need to bring it home.

Are you thinking this problem was there all along, and you didn't notice it until you hooked the brake comtroller up? Or could the controller wiring be part of the problem.
I haven't worked on a truck as new as yours, but the older trucks brake pedal switches were not adjustable.
The older switches fit around the pin that goes to the master cylinder. This pin has a sloppy fit in the pedal arm, and the slop is what activates the brake electrical switch. If you have this type, I would replace the switch and see what happens. They have a pretty hefty spring in the switch, and something could be hanging up in the switch.
