I need four shocks on my Jeep J-10. The Rancho 5000's are totally shot. Ranchos are $40.00 each and Bilstiens are $55.00. I'd like someones opinion that has used both brands, are the Bilstiens worth the extra bucks. I have 33X12.5 tires and don't do any extreme off roading. ...................Thanks.
I knew I was going to get some flak over the J*** word and almost edited it out. I thank you all for being civil and I promise not to defile the forum again. :~)
Thanks for the Bilstien recommendations.
There will be Bilstiens on my J*** per your recommendations. but it's amazing to me that there are no recommendations for Ranchos. Are they that bad? How did they get that popular if they didn't get one recommendation on my question ? Is it all hype? I believe you guys before I would ever believe any advertisement....5-0 got to mean something...
Ranchos became popular because they are good, and cheap. Bilstein gets the nod because they are good, and well, darn good...just not cheap. Although these days they aren't that much more expensive. Ranchos are a fine shock, heck, I use them.
In defense of Rancho, I had 5000's on my old Chevy K20 and they were fine shocks, withstood the abuse too. As far as Bilsteins, I just bought a pair yesterday to put on the front of the F350. OffRoadWareHouse (SanDiego, CA) has good prices on them. www.offroadwarehouse.com
