92 EB Explorer, Spark knock?
Hello all. I have been reading the forums and decided to join up.
Has any one heard of this?...
I took my factory air box and all the damn hoses out of my 92 Explorer 4.0 4X2 and replaced it with a custom filter (now I don't know if this is coinkidink or what) but when I am driving over 35 mph I get this ticking sound that someone said sounds like spark knock. I can only think that maybe I am running lean with the new air flow. I don't feel any power loss while this happens but it gets loader when I push through the pedal and almost completely goes away when I am at a constant speed.
I thought maybe It was caused by removing the hoses from the factory air box and blocking the lines off. If I unblock any line from the connector it will idle really rough or shut off.
I am about to replace the plugs with Bouch Platinum plugs.
Any other suggestions?
