Running Cold

Temperature gauge in cold zone. Heater putting out warm air, not really hot as usually. Last night checked top hose was only warm. Radiator cap was cold. Cracked cap, it had pressure and water. Ambient temperature was 50deg. Drove 25 miles engine appeared to be running normal.

Flushed and installed new thermostat 3mo ago.

Will have to investigate today after coffee.
Any ideas?

My question is there a quick way to tell if problem is water pump or the TS? If TS is stuck open will it have the above symptoms?

Looks like my new autozone TS is stuck open.

Is there a trick the pro's use to hold TS in place while getting housing and bolts in?

I am not a pro, but I just replaced mine. The manual says that when you put it in, rotate it clockwise to lock it in place. That worked.

So much for preventive maintainance. The stem was complete out keeping the NEW AZ TS stuck open. Put the old OEM back in, everything normal.

I was suprised to see that a stuck open TS kepted the engine temperature in the cold .
