high idle issues

I recently bought an 00 excursion and replaced the intake system with the k&N system. Needless to say it breathes much better than before but for some reason it idles really high around 1500-2000 in park and about 1200 in drive at a stop. Also throttle will sometimes stick and rev higher than 3000 in park when I hit the accelerator. Any ideas of how to fix the problem?

Get your IAC valve checked out real soon ... and yesterday was too late. Also, any throttle stickiness is unacceptable on any vehicle. Hmmm ... sticky throttle ... it may not be the IAC valve ... could be your throttle return spring. Did any part of your K&N installation come near that spring, or other parts that operate the throttle's butterfly valve? Granted, the K&N will provide better breathing, but methinks something was positioned to now interfere with the smooth operation of the throttle.
