97 Explorer V8 Towing ability....

I recently bought a 97 Explorer XLT AWD V8. I absolutly love this truck. I will using it tow a smaller race trailer for 4 wheelers/go karts and was considering buying a travel trailer. Can anyone tell me what is the biggest travel trailer and or race trailer I could pull with this SUV?

Also how about boat pulling ability?

my dad has a 97 V8 AWD Eddie Bauer and It pulls 3500lbs worth of boat fine and it pulls hills with no problem, the only upgrades that have been done is a flowmaster exhaust system and it has the stock shorty headers that come with the Eddie Bauer package(gives it a really nice throat and you can feel the difference in the power).

I pull a 5000 lb boat and trailer with no problems. The truck is rated for close to 7000 lbs.

I would tow as little as possible due to all of the transmission problems we have experienced with our two Explorers.

Wouldn't matter so much if it wasn't such an expensive repair--minimum $1,000 even when we have friends to the work.
