Lifts

I have a 79 f-150 4wd 400 with auto trans. I recently put a set of fender-well hedders. I run 32-11.20 bridgestone dueler MT and they rub the hedders. So I need to put a little lift on my truck. I want a 3-inch lift. I would like to get a package deal where shocks come with it. Who makes the best and most affordable?

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions about the lift other than to say I would reccommend Skyjacker, Rancho, or Superlift. Shop around. Try www.broncograveyard.com www.4wheelparts.com or www.NTWonline.com for starters. You'll get a look at different pricing and packages.

I mainly wanted give you a heads up that lifting your truck may not clear up your header rubbing problem. I'm not saying it won't (never had anything smaller than a 35" so I can't say for sure), but don't be disapointed when it doesn't.

31" would look tinny, but it's up to you. i have 33" on stock and i think those look small. brake line would probably be needed.

Its all relative my friend. One mans nicely sized 31" is another mans go-cart tire. Go with what grabs you. Err big.

You could buy a little miller welder, and fab your own hangers, and then still have the welder for later projects...

honestly if you're going to do a 4" lift with 32's you should look into 100 spoke wire rims, it would complete the look, i still have room for 38's with no trimming on only 4"s

What would you recommend. I'd like to keep the same tire size

I just have to suggest the locals, there is a company where i live who makes lifts, www.performanceaccessories.com I like their lifts, but it might not be for you. plus, you might not be able to get them where you live

your fine with 33's stock, you can make 35's work, but youll have to do a lil trimiing here and there....

If you look back at the origonal post he states that he's rubbing the fenderwell headers with his tires.

79pos,

I would ditch the headers personally. If you are rubbing with those tires stock whatever lift you get you will need to run a much smaller tire than most folks think looks good. It's all a matter of personal opinion but I think 32-33 inch tires with 3" lift look too small. I had 35's with some 2" front springs and I thought it was about perfect. Again it's all a matter of personal taste and if you like the look with 32's and a 3" lift then enjoy it. That's all that really matters

Any way the headers could be modified a little to clear them? Also are you sure it's the headers and not the radius arms you're rubbing? Just have to ask.
