has anyone bought a new truck on the internet? ive found a few good sites on "clark howard's" web site. it lets you pick what you want on your truck then gives you the low-ball price. p.s. i like the xl truck better it looks good whith the xtra crome. i am going to get the 4by4 reg cab ,red 8' bed.
I am also interested buying a new truck on the internet.I'l have my 2002 f 150 payed off in nov. and would like to get a new f 250 4x4 6.0 x cab xlt but with all the problems i've been hearing about with the new engine i am not sure now.
these will be buying services......check out some info in these threads, guys, and you'll find invaluable info on best ways to purchase a truck. The truck is still purchased thru a dealer.
djs2, I just talked with my mom tonight, and COULD NOT BELIEVE the mileage of that new 6.0... Again, you'll find better info on this site about it, but my dad is getting 5mpg with his newly-purchased F450 with that diesel engine in it. I'm AGHAST. Very poor and frustrating..
He has 2 dodges (one has a Cummins) and this new Ford. Personally, I swear by Ford, but I'm also frustrated for his challenge he's having with this new diesel.
Yeah, there are some problems with the new 6.0L that I've been hearing.Things ranging from faulty injectors to things more serious. My advice,if you're going with the 6.0L PSD,wait until the end of this year or the beginning of the next. They should have all of the problems fixed by then. This happens quite often when a whole new engine is released. But,IMO,these problems could've been prevented by Ford in the beginning.
I bought my new F150 SCREW via the Internet. How I did it was to go to the Ford web site and do an inventory search of exactly what I was looking for. It gave me the availability of trucks at Ford dealerships within my zip code range. I then contacted the dealerships via email and asked for their best price. Some dealerships are not aggressive when it comes to offering a great price via email while others are very aggressive. I ended up receiving offers as good as $200 bellow invoice from a dealership 200 miles from me.
My local dealership down the street was very unwilling to offer me a good deal up front. I think Internet shopping is definitely the way to go. You cut out the haggling and hassle.
I purchase my 2004 F150 through "EDMUNDS.COM" they sent out emails to local dealers with my request and I received emails from 3 seperate dealers. 2 of them gave me quite aggressive quotes(under invoice) via email. I ultimately chose the one that gave me the least hard sell and best price. I ended up paying close to $500 under invoice. There are other sites out there like "autobytel.com" & "kbb.com" work the same way. give it try.
