ok so this may sound like a stupid question or just a stupid idea overall, but i was wondering if anyone here or knows of anyone who has added another diesel tank to their '03 F250 6.0L powerstroke ... and if so, what did you/they do ?
I was thinking along the lines of having two tanks ... similar to tanks you see on big rigs, cylinder looking tanks that is .. but obviously much smaller
No stupid questions here. That's a good one. I was looking at a spare tank, I saw one that looks like an aluminum tool box in the bed of the truck. You hit a switch and it pumps its load into the factory tank.
I get 400+ miles out of my stock tank. I have never been that far away from diesel fuel. Besides my butt nor my bladder can go that long without stopping.
Good suggestion! Transfer Flow from what I understand has the best auxilary tank system there is. I am getting a new F550 with an Eclipse Thoroughbred conversion on it. It has a TF system on it which will give me a total of 74 gallons.
As SBV45 says, my butt nor bladder can go that long either. I like the added capacity simply because it lets me make fewer fuel stops and hopefully gets me from Flying J to Flying J or Loves to Loves. You get the picture.
BigJ, best of luck in your search. You might want to call the people at Transfer Flow. I talked to a guy there a couple of weeks ago and he was very helpful and nice.
74 gallon tank in the back of your truck? Wow, do you calculate milage in gallons per mile. I agree with LoneRacer, I wouldn't be able to go that long either. I think the bed tank is a good idea though if you are doing a long haul and can find fuel at a certain stop a little cheaper than at another place, but that's a lot of gas to put on a fire if you had an accident.

Same problem here.. need to stretch after about 300 miles
But if I had longer range I could just pull over to a rest stop and go 10-100 and not have to pull off the interstate for fuel
I kinda like the bed tanks that hold about 45 gals and have a tool box on top of the L shaped tank
29 factory tank 45 aux tank average 13 mpg pulling my trailer
thats over 900 miles between fuel stops WOW
riding with no load (other than 45 gals of extra fuel of course) at a wishfull 18 mpg it would be over 1,300 hummmm only 2 fuel stops from New York to L.A.
Can anyone say "Cannonball Run"
I agree with Loneracer. I have an auxillary tank on my 350 so I don't have to stop at some mom and pop gas station and take the chance of getting water or dirt in my fuel. Plus, time is an option. The faster I get a barn delivered the faster I get home and rest so I can take another out........the faster I go the more money I make that week......assuming I don't have a run in with DOT. You can expect to waste 30 to 45 mins. each stop you make, and on a 24 hr trip........that is a lot of wasted time.
[IMG][/IMG] This is what I did and I love it. I can go along way and fill up at cheaper rates. I have a pump that is remote activated that pumps it into the fill pipe.
