My partner recently took our f350 to a dealer for issues with the water fuel separator. During that visit, the dealer suggested that the computer be reprogrammed to assist in idling & starting. When he asked if it would affect the performance they replied "NO".
After the reprogramming, the truck had 30hp less than before the service. The dealer informed my partner that the factory must have forgotten to change the settings to the factory specifications. Now it is according to spec and there is nothing that can be done to change it back.
We are having a hard time swallowing this news. We were totally satisfied with the way the truck performed prior to the service.
Could someone please comment on our dilemma? Do we have any recourse?
How did you determine the 30HP loss? Was it put on a dyno? What code was it before and what code is it now? (They have to put a sticker on the door frame and the computer box.)
