clutch linkage

Hey guys I got my 351w swapped into my 65 and im hooking up my clutch linkage my clutch pivot (screwed into the side of my 351) is about an inch from where it should be. I looked at my 352 and it had a bracket bolted to the front of the block with 2 bolts. I think I can flip that bracket and bolt it to the bellhousing with one bolt. Has anyone else had this problem when swapping to a windsor from an Fe and what did you do to fix it. thanks Don

Does it matter that I'm using the FE frame mounts and not windsor frame mounts. i just took this 351W out of a 72 where everything fit perfectly. I'm guessing that I will need windsor frame mounts to get everything back in line. if anyone has any ideas please let me know asap. thanks Don

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you might have a little problem with engine alignment there donsboy. you do definitly need the 302-400 engine mounts. using the right mounts will leave the tranny and everything else in the same location in the frame. the f e mounts set the motor way to high in the front, way to far forward, and higher on one side than the other. been there done that, doesnt work worth a darn. i may have a set of mounts laying around somewhere, if i do they are yours. i will look tomorrow and see if i can find them. email me if you have any questions about anything else, i have done just about everything to one in , oh crap!, 30 YEARS!, god i am old.

Thanks guys I guess I better get in the jack this engine up as far as I can get it and try to slide the frame mounts out mode. I couldnt figure out why the engine sit perfectly in my 72 but was quite a bit away from the firewall in the 65 now i know and knowing is half the battle. I had read on this forum that a 302 or 351 would work perfectly on the FE mounts but i guess that is if you have an automatic and not a manual tranny and want to lengthen the driveshaft. I think when I get the engine and tranny where they belongs my stock driveshaft will fit just about perfectly. thanks again Don

44dwarf what kind of headers are those. I've only found 302 headers for a 69 and up with a 302. I dont know if they will fit a 351 with the taller deck any guesses. thanks Don

There "Summits" House brand header for 69 and up.
They don't fit to good but I did not have to dent them as i've had to with other brands the main problem is they ended to close to the second cross member so I had to do some "CUSTOM" exhaust work as you could see. I needed the truck the next day, so break out the welder.....
If the 351 sits higher that would help! at $89 there okay.

Pull the engine perches out of the 72 and bolt them in to the 65, that should put you back where you need to be. Might want to grab the 72 drive line too.

I gave the 72 to my cousin in Va. I'm in Oklahoma. I have the tranny but she needed the 2 piece driveshaft. She had a 302 swapped into that longbed. I wish I had kept those 70 Mach 1 exhaust manifolds though. They are hard to find out here in Broken Arrow.

I moved out here a year and a half ago its ok. I miss Va and all my parts connections back home. I dont know anyone out here but my wifes family and only her dad is into cars and he just moved here in Dec from Mississippi. So neither of us has any parts connections. I know VA and he knows Illinois (his original home) but we are lost in Ok.So if there are any Okies in BA drop me an line and let me know where i can get parts reasonably. I can really use the help Thanks Don
