low oil pressure

My favorite truck 1979F-100 302 does not hold good oil pressure when the motor is warmed up. My mechanic has advised me to try a new motor flush procedure before spending gobs of money or back breaking work. It flushes through the motor from the oil filter connection. It cleans all carbon from oil paths and the oil pump screen.I will let you know if it helps. The truck has been on propane its whole life and I have been driving it for 25 years.

Pretty common on high mileage fords to have worn main bearings which equals low oil psi. Hope your able to remedy the problem by a flush and its not the bearings, good luck, interested in reading what you find out, later

Try straight 30 weight. It holds oil pressure better than the 10W30 stuff does (atleast down here it does). They put 10W30 in mine on accident last time and I could tell a differance as soon as I left the place. Mine still doesn't like to hold oil pressure after running and getting warm when stopped at a stop light- so I just put it in neutral and the oil pressure stays up. Not really convient but it keeps the engine holding oil pressure. Valvoline "max life engine treatment" also seems to help it hold oil pressure. Yes I know it's not a "cure" or the best thing for it but hey it works and does the job needed, besides a new engine goes in in the next few months.
