Hooker Headers on 78 with 460
I found a set of brand new hooker headers that are swap headers for my 78 4X4 with a 460. The guy has had them for a few years he bought them for his 78 Bronco that has a 460 sweaped in and never used them. They are regular black Hooker Super Comps that are still in the box with everything (gaskets, bolts, etc) and he only wants $100 for them. Are these good headers. They would probaly last forever because I dont drive my truck alot. Whats your opion on them and do you think I should buy them?

They may not last any longer if you do not drive a lot. Headers rust out and sitting with water condensing on them out of the air will probably rust them just as fast sitting as being used. One of the combustion byproducts is benzoic acid. Then you have that pesky water vapor, - that combo eats exhaust systems alive.

I'm with Torque on this one. They'd probably last longer if you drove the truck regularly.
$100 sounds like a decent deal. If you want them to last, send them off to get Jet Hot coated or get some other type of coating put on them.

only heard good things about hooker headers, except for one rumor that they crack real easy when they get hot and cool quickly(like an illinois winter after some extreme driving....my father had a '79 F150 custom with a set of hookers that this happened too.)
