Ks Chapter organization, opening discussion

Hi all,

I dont want to step on anyones toes, and I dont think I am , but...

I think it would be a good idea to try to get things under control and attempt to provide some sort of "organization" to our chapter.

Ultramagdan is the moderator, he will guide us on the "dos and donts" and apply the website rules evenly to all. and smack us around if we dont follow the rules!

There is no reason we cant also have a Chapter president, regional chapter heads, etc.

My personal opinion is that it will make our chapter a better place if we can get it a little more organized, I know this place is new to most of us, the dust will eventually clear.

If you all agree, I would like to nominate Mark (peties3) as the presiident, he did a fine job at the other place, no reason he wont do the same here!

opinions??? lets hear em!

I don't like the idea. I know all the people from the 'other' site will all fall into line, they have so far on every other suggestion. If you guys want elected presidents etc. Why not start your own club off shot from here, or just independently?

I don't like the idea of a chain of command in an open forum. Pretty soon, there will be bylaws, dues and all that other mess. I for one, am not interested in someone 'ruling' over my activities. I may be reading this all wrong, if so, please correct me. I think the current structure is fine, with ultramagdan as moderator.

Again, I am not against those that want such a club, having one. I just don't think FTE is an appropriate vehicle for such. Therefore, cast one vote against.

It seems like the Kansas Chapter initially is made up of mostly the guys that came here from Ford Truck World. There are just a few of us that have been here at FTE for a while. My opinion is that you guys are experienced at this "chapter" thing so I am perfectly comfortable following your lead. In addition, most of you already know each other and have interacted with each other before. Hopefully, as time goes on, all of us will blend into one group. Again, for now, I'm willing to listen and learn!!

I can see your point. You do have some interesting ideas. I assure you we are not acustomed to running a chapter that way either. We never did bylaws, we never had any dues or rules. As a matter of fact on many occasions, I paid for the meals/appitizers. Remember that Jon? When i was really into the chapter thing before, I would buy the chapter stickers and give them to the new members if they would come to a meet or a cruise. I wouldn't mail it to them if it was within driving distance. The president helped organize a meet in different towns and such. It basically was to help spark an interest in the site and the chapter. No, we really only had a lot of fun at get togethers. the last get together we had was a Dinner and a white elephant gift exchange at my house. I personally had a ton of fun!!!
The role of the pres. was to help guide members in the right direction as far as getting their questions answered, Did a welcome thread with in the chapter and maintained a chapter gallery. Anyways, there is probably better people than me that could be nominated.
If this is agreed apon, I would nominate a person that has been with the site here for a while to help join the new with the old. I even would be willing to help get the new prez. going.

Anyway that is my 2cents worth.

Mark

You know, if I don't like it, I don't have to participate, right? I was just giving my opinion. I don't know, I just never have been a real good follower. If you all do decide to go this route, I wish you the best and no hard feelings.

part of the deal is that a lot of us came from the other place and now we are invading this place, we have pretty much gotten to know each other at the "other place" and I know we can do the same here, its just going to take a little time to get to know everyone.

The main way we got to know each other was by attending the get togethers and just BS'ing. I was hoping some sort of organization within the chapter would help get the ball rolling!

There are some members that go out of their way to make meets, and others are comfortable just posting back and forth, either way its all good!

Im not trying to take anything away from Dan or any of the members that have been here before us!

If you think the idea of having a president is ok then lets keep going, discussion is good!

BTW its not really a chain of command, its more like the Chapter Cheerleader! and Mark is right, we dont pay dues, no bylaws, its not even a club, just a "Chapter" of a bunch of Ford truck loving guys that happen to hang out every once in awhile. No secret handshake either!

The chapter is what the members make of it!

My opinion is we are here at this site now. FTE is our new home we should abide by and follow there preset standards. FTE did not get this big by doing things wrong, the format works and works well. We have a moderator who has stepped in and helped us become a chapter. Ultramagdan has done well for us by offering his help and getting us to where we are a legit chapter. Mark was a good president at FTW and is still a good friend to myself and the others. What we need right now is to grow our membership, merge the existing members with the ones of us coming in, and to keep having fun. There is no reason to start trying to have a chain of command or different positions, we are all members and we all have a voice in what goes on here. Look at the way it is set up: 1st we have a moderator to keep things inline on the forums and such then 2nd we have all the members. Why do we need anything else. I think the idea of having a moderator overseeing and keeping the chapter within the FTE guidelines is great. Everyone here is on equal footing and that's the way it should be. I for one like this format and believe it will make us all stronger and closer then ever before. Look at what has happened in just a short time, we have already gathered more members and more support or more excitment for GTG's then I have seen for awhile. This way I can setup things, you can, he can, they can whatever we are not useing the president as a crutch to get things going. It rests on all members shoulders to make this work and I haven't seen a better group of people to get this done then what we have right here in the Kansas Chapter. Don't mean to rattle on but I can't see trying to change something that has been working so well for so long. FTE has been alot more of a host so far then I saw at FTW. I mean in just a day and a few emails and posts we were set up with a chapter and the chance to make it work. I didn't see that kind of offering or that qwick of a reply from any other site. Ok everyone I will get of my horse now and shut-up.

You guys should amble up to the general discussion and pig pen forums if you get a chance. They're both a lot of fun. Personally, I'm happy to see the new Kansas Chapter. I don't think we could have pulled it off without all the new members!!

MItch I like the idea. We will all need some direction when we start planning meets. And YES Mark I will show my lovely face at some of them this time.

While I don't agree with the idea of a chapter president, I do disagree with your statement, the only way the we will grow as a chapter is for members to present ideas. Whether they are accepted or not, is beside the point. It's kinda like the only stupid question is one that you don't ask.

Please don't hesitate from posting new ideas.

Each chapter is free to organize in whatever way its members feel is best so long as it doesn't violate any of the signup guidelines or harm FTE.

Whatever a chapter thinks is the best thing for their region to grow is the way to go. Trial and error will show the best route for a chapter in the long run.

Nice thing about our forums software is you can set up voting if and when the time comes.
