460 Engine in 1978 4x4
Was the 460 a factory option in the 1978 F250 Ranger 4x4?

No,

Only a 351M/400 or I6 300.
Maybe a 302 as it was an option too.

Did the 460 come in any trucks in 1978? 4x2?
Or were they reserved for cars?

i think it was mainly put in the cars, it was very popular in the lincoln

They came only in the 2 wheel drive trucks and vans. No 460 in 4x4 till I think 82

There where available in 2x4's only.

& Mainly Camper or Trailer Specials.

Only available in 4X2's ; at least until 1983.

They were available in 1/2 Tons as well as the 250s and 350s.
