expedition waxing

can you compound and wax 98 expedition or does it have clear coat what then

There are pre-wax products which you can apply prior to waxing of course. I'd also use bug and tar remover. Actually I'd first apply the bug and tar remover, wash the car, apply the pre-wax (Maguire has them - expensive though) and then wax the car. I would not use a rubbing compound as it would damage the clear coat of the truck, it's like using sand paper on your truck - not nice

I wouldn't use rubbing compound, but I have used polishing compound many times. Just make sure your application rag is very damp when applying. You probably should test a hidden place before going to town. Follow up the polishing compound with a nice polish then wax. This will give a very deep shine, but requires a ton of work.
