Chris the T-stat is really in the engine, not the hose.
Bottom hoses used to have a spring in them for support so they don't collapse under suction. You don't see springs in replacement hoses anymore and I forgot why.
Yep, in the old days the molded hoses had a spring inside to prevent collapse under suction. I don't know why they don't put them in anymore. I have seen hoses collapse. I suppose the new engines could have better water pump and cooling system designs but we have OLD style (good) engines...
i'm not sure if i understand correctly but when i got a new lower hose from napa (a direct replacment, molded if i understand correctly) it has a spring in it. Please correct my termenology if i'm wrong.
anyone try those steel braided lines or whatever they are you can get them just about anywhere now adays i wanna try em w/ my new radiator, i wonder if they have a spring in em cuz i think they are flat when not pressurized
