iol leaking problem

iol leaking problem
Hello!
I found oil spots on ground, at the front part of the engine. When I looked under the truck I found heavey grease build-up sitting on the axle frame dead center. The color of the spots in the snow, is rustic looking and smells like gas.
The oil spots, where not just in one spot, they where maybe a couple if inches apart.
can anyone tell what or where thats coming from. could it be the front engine seals leaking?? (or) ???
