I have the chance to buy a 1959 f-600 grain truck. It has a good 292 and misc parts. The question I have is will the steering box fit a 1960 f-250? Appreciate your help. Idaho
The boxes are different in size and ratio but there should be no problem installing in a 250. Make an drawing of the mount to see if you have to do any frame drilling for the hardware.
There is all the room in the world under the hood.
Be sure to get the 600 Pitman arm as the sector shaft diameters are bigger on the 350/500/600. The arm is identical on those 3 models.
If the 600 box is good, tear it down, clean and repack. IMO that box should have been standard in the 250 anyway.
Now: My disclaimer is that I'm referencing the 53-6 models and just sticking my neck out on the 59
Not Sure what your paying for this F-600 grain truck but I am learning that most Y-Blocks are worth getting even if there are not alot of other parts available Body wise. (The Y-block is makng a come back, like the flathead) I gaurentee it!!! And If it has the Ram Horn exuast they are Highly Desirable and Pricey, and Any Y-BLOCK is a more exceptable and and out right COOL, preference than any other option. (This is a matter of opinion), AND I am Biased! Y-BLOCKS RULES! If you Read You will Agree!
