Engine probs, HELLLLLP!!

My B2 will not kick out of high idle for some strange reason. Take note that it has been really cold here the past few days (LIKE -40F COLD) and no thats not a typo, it's -40F here. I'm just hoping that its from the cold and it's not a sensor. If someone has had a similar problem, please let me know, as I would really like to get this resolved asap, shes quite the pig on gas in this silly wather.

Thanks,
Kevin.

Yes - I am starting to have the same problem. I notice it when stopping at a light. It's still idles high for a couple of seconds then drops all of a sudden back to normal RPM. It just started to happen with this cold weather-But I never had this problem any other winter. I am going to check my IAC this weekend and I'll let you know if I find anything.

After cleaning my IAC I found the throttle cable was sticking. Lubed up the throttle cable and cleaned IAC and so far...so good.

Also check your A/C solenoid... they can go bad and not retract all the way. Could be a vaccuum problem or the spring on the cruise control can catch sometimes, especially if the plastic housing it's supposed to be in has become cracked or something. The carb on that 85 is not too complicated.. but it has about $300 worth of solenoids and sensors on it that can go bad so you might want to have it checked. Every time I've had one re-built it's been a sensor or something that was the problem and not the carb itself.

Great advice... Unfortunately I have an 86 2.9L FI under the hood. It seems to be running a bit better now that the weather has come up about 20 degrees. Thnaks for the input, when its warm enough I'm going to clean out the IAC.
