I don't think the brackets are the same, but the frames are, so it may just be a matter of drilling new holes. I have what appears to be an 80/20 2nd row. Is that what you are talking about?
I might be interested in a trade from a 99 Eddie Bauer with tan leather. let me know if you find out anything else about compatability. I live in OH. I thought I read on some of the other posts that bucket seats will fit in a vehicle that has a bench seat. I will do some searching. elt me know if you are interested.
I took out the center console last night. There are two mounting brackets that attach to the floor; two bolts apiece. The seats hinge on the front with a single "star" pattern bolt for each of the two hinges per seat. The back is where I think we both will have trouble with a swap.
The buckets hinge down and catch on two latch bars that extend above a 3" recessed hole. You guys can't get this latch bar and I can't get it out.
I saw a post from a Lincoln tech last night that said the floor pans were different and the change in step height would make it very difficult.
What's the thought on that?
I may just have to get somebody to weld me a bracket and place an aftermarket center jumpseat in the thing.
Why don't you check your bracket/bolt configuration on the benches and see where we stand.
I checked around with the dealer and our best aftermarket shop. It looks like the swap is quite difficult and then I'm going to take a hit at trade with a EB EXPY seat in a Navigator, especially see if I've modified the "safety equipment."
Still ope to hear about the bench mounts, but not so excited. Loks like it will be a dumpy little jumper seat until we get an Excursion.
I gotta find somebody to line up next to. I have the Navi an I just ain't buyin that the pans are different depending on the seating configuration. Of course I can't prove it. Yet.
