Please forgive my inexperience with posting, this is a new thing for me. I am seeking help in reference to my 2000 ford explorer. It's a 5.0L v8 all wheel drive.
This is the situation... It was running pretty well with the only exception being a new spongeiness in the brakes that I was about to have looked at. But since some very cold temperatures were on their way, I set out to winterize the vehicle first. When I got under the hood I saw that the water/antifreeze not only needed to be adjusted but it was filthy and needed to be changed all together. So I set out to do exactly that. I drained the radiator and then used some prestone radiator flush. I ran the engine for the directed time and then let it cool again as directed. I then drained the flush out and refilled the radiator with water as to rinse as directed by the flush product. I ran and heated the engine again and then allowed it to cool again as directed. I then drianed it again and then put in a 50/50 % mixture of antifreeze and water. I ran the engine as directed and allowed the engine to cool as directed before topping off the radiator.

Here is the problem... After running the engine the last time to heat and open up the system I pulled my vehicle back into the car port and turned it off to cool. I had to be out of pocket for 2 days after this. So I left my vehicle in the car port and did not return to top it off for two days. When I returned after the 2 days and attempted to start the vehicle after topping it off as directed, it wouldn't start. It had plenty of power/ battery and turned over but acted like it wasn't getting any gas. I have since followed the repair manuel in checking to see if the fuel pump was coming on. It is not. So I have checked battery fuses and even replaced PCM and fuel relays, and still have not been able to activate the fuel pump. I am aware that my fuel pump could have gone out, but find this hard to believe since the vehicle has had no problem whatsoever running or strting before now. I have also checked the inertia switch to start the pump. It did'nt help.
I am wondering if I did something or if there is some small thing I've overlooked since my attempts to flush and put new antifreeze in the vehicle. any insights and counsel are welcome.

 

Need to check to see if you have power at the pump. Get a meter and get under the back and check at the plug. If you have power then it's dum luck the pump went out. If you have no power I would follow the wire and look break would ckeck the power at the inertia switch on the side going to the pump. ( you can hard wire to the pump and see if it fires up ) May need to run new wires from the inertia switch to the pump.

Thankyou for the reply! I just would like to ask if you might be willing to give some step by step on which kind of meter and some basics as to what I need it to read out when I use it. I've not used them very much and feel a little insecure about it.

If the pump is bad you might get it going temporarily by giving the gas tank a good whack with your hand.

If you have a radio shack, you can get a digital meter. Need to read how to use it becouse there all a little deferent. But to test to see if you have power you can use a 12 volt test light. It will work as well and it's cheeper.
