Anyone have a line on better quality (like metal / chrome) replacement bumpers for a 1994 Aero? Some dingbat tapped me in back, couldn't have been going more than 20 MPH and I now have a crazy puzzle of broken bumper pieces! If it does that - these plastic things are worthless.
I don't want the tube type that look offroad, but will resort to that if I have to so there's more protection. Thanks!x
I wish I knew, but so far I have not found any. I am tempted to have a set of steel tubes made as well, but the understructure holding it up has to be reinforced as well. Then there is the trick of making it look normal on the side.
May I ask if either of you had an aftermarket trailer hitch installed when you were tapped? I've heard they are some protection in those rear end taps...especially if you have the drawbar and ball hitch attached at the time.
I had a welder make me a bar that fits in the receiver, to protect the back bumper. He curved the ends forward so you won't bust your shins on it. I put the sticky grit tape on it so I can stand on it to wash the roof. Wish I had of gone up one pipe size on it. It seems like I saw these at a Hitch store only not as long, but it probably wasn't made from black plumbing pipe.
