Sensor on master cylinder

Y'all help me figure something out. Several months ago I hopped in my '96 f-250 4*4 to go pull a neighbor out of a ditch. Cranked right up, mashed brake to shift into drive, nothing happened. Shifter wouldn't budge. ABS light started flashing! Started visual trouble shooting at the master cylinder and found a burned sensor and wire harness on it. I disconnected it and continued checking things until I found a blown fuse. Replaced fuse and truck has worked fine ever since. This sensor on the master cylinder is now leaking a little bit and I want to replace it. Is it something important? Can I plug it? Will I have to bleed brake system?

That sensor tells the ABS computer if there is enough fluid in the res. and if not, it disables the ABS. If the sensor is bad, it will have a fit and say there is not enough. To replace it, you need to drain the fluid out of the res, then gently pry it out of the master cylinder with a screw driver or something of the like. Then replace it with a new one. Yes, you need to bleed the brakes too. Well, you should, so the manual says.
