How can I identify (verify) a 390 engine? I have located one through a co-worker. It belonged to her huband who recently passed on. It is disassembled in their basement. I has no intake or heads. She said she thought it came from a truck, I just don't need another 360....
the 2U or 1U would be stamped on, I think, the second set of throw weights of the crank. I do not personally own a casting info book, but if you let us know what's there, we can decode it for you.
That is a 360 crank. But if you check some of the other posts, it is not that difficult to make it a 390 with a crank, pistons, and rods from a 390. The heads are the same so they will be easy to find.
I thought that it probably was a 360, since I already have one. No thoughts on building it into a 390... I have limited budget and two trucks on deck to be restored.
