Is it just my observation..or is there a growing lack of truthfullness in big business? Martha Stewart even! and WOrldcom... Egads

Lets see..If I follow this approach..next time I go down to the bank, and negotiate my line of credit...I'm gonna own

6 cars
5 Trucks
3 Houses
have a million dollar income
have a wife with a million dollar income
million dollar race horse
numerous oil fields
and so on...

what the heck..the bigger the claim it seems, the more its believed..

proof..what proof! I'll find an "independent auditor" somewhere!

Very interesting post Randy.

I seem to remember in my younger days signing away yards and yards of paperwork to get a lousy 1500.00 loan.

Years later, I buy my house practically over the phone.

They don't care. You can buy a car with ANY kind of credit (or lack thereof) if you're willing to pay the penalty.

Strange

I agree that business will not police itself. But I know that there are hundreds of "good" businesses which do make profits, treat their employees right, etc. I hate to see business or big business genericly (sp) blasted, and cringe every time the government adds another constraint (restraint) to business' ability to make its own decisions and a profit.

I think business, like all citizens, should be held accountable for the results of their actions, where they act in illegal or unethical ways. I don't support fining or punishing the business as much as I support bringing those individuals to justice within the organizations who commit crimes against the people.

Whenever the orgainzation as a whole is punished for the actions of the ceo or a few people in management, the common employees are the ones who suffer most.

I work for a large corporation, and I have to "read and understand" several policy statements each year concerning business practices, legal, moral and ethical guidelines, and sign my name indicating that I have done so.

Looking at this from the inside of Worldcom I can say that the big guys are the ones that even though they may go to jail or get find they are the ones that are ok. We the people that have given to the company for a number of years (I have over 7) are the ones that are going to hurt the most. I was given stock options for hard work and dedication to the company over the years. Over the years I have received over 20,000 that are now not worth a #####. This is money I was looking forward to using to make a retirement suplement for my wife and I.

I do think that someone needs to keep an eye on companys so this kind of stuff don't happen. Oh that right we have the SEC they are the ones that are to do this. Opp's not sure how but over the past 3 years the company has gone thru 3 SEC invetigations and has came out looking A OK. Could it be that Aderson was doing the books so well that the SEC was unable to see 3.8 Billion dollars?? Or could it be that someone in the SEC has a fat pocket? Not sure but this whole thing real stinks and I know that I sure wont get 1.5 mill for the rest of my life.
