ok here is the story I took apart the harness which has been tampered with and found alot of bad wiring. I redid all of the wiring and it is charging like a champ I would like to thank all off you guys for your help and suggestions.

Hey there,
Want to point out that the alternator wiring for 70-72 is totally different form 67-69. I completely redid my harness and then forgot how it hooked to the alternator. I looked at my 68 parts truck for reference. I hooked it up like the 68 was and before I could turn the motor off My new looking harness was melted. 70-72 alternator wiring DOES NOT USE THE STATOR TERMINAL!!!!!!!
