86 Buckets available ?

My bench seat is terrible... Were any bucket seats available stock that year ? Are there any other years which will fit it ?
Has anyone put buckets from some other vehicle into this model and it work ok ?
Thanks,Greg

Bronco's have buckets. Might have to drill a few holes, nothing major. It's definately do-able. Good Luck!

I am worried that some buckets will be too thick on the backs.... my bench seat back is incredibly thin....
The extended cab and the Bronco would have more room to use thicker seats... even if they floor mounts are the same....

The backs of Bronco seats aren't very thick in my opinion. Besides, you can move the back up/down. The driver's side seat can move forward/backward on the track, passenger's side is stationary. But, I've heard of a lot of people using them with no problems! The aftermarket seats I've seen, are way thicker on the backs then the Bronco seats. Besides, you can get a genuine Ford part, that matches your interior, has armrests, and really is comfortable! Just a thought.

I just had my bench seat recovered at a local upholstry shop. Nice heavy vinyl, while not factory, looks great. Cost + tax was 195 and was done in one day.

I just went and measured the backs... we are talking 3 inches... I have never seen any this thin...I would love to find a Ford Part which would bolt in.....
The problem with the seat is that , unlike every other seat I have ever seen, it has a solid steel protrusion on the outer edge.. most seats lean a little over the years to the outside but this one leans to the inside due to normal spring give....it was never comfortable ... I have the ability to reupholster it myself...but that steel support up top on the outside is not something I can keep and use these seats...

i have some blue trans am seats that will fit nicely in mine , but i keep my seat pretty far up , my bench is 3 or 4 inches from the back of the cab right now anyway , so i wouldn't have a problem anyway . they're not very thick as far as seat backs go anyway . might be something to look into , they used the same seats in trans am's firebirds , and camaros for over a decade, so they're pretty easy to come by . and color matching is pretty easy , my blue ones match my interior perfectly.

Take a look in my gallery at the 94' tauras seats i have in my 82 regualer cab flareside, and if you like it i can descride the process in detail. But heres a quick lowdown: First get seats that you will like, mine were ful power. Then using pieces of scrap wood cut for the lenght of the seat trac and about 2" wide. Then using the wood make the seat sit where you want it then using steel tubing and flat iron mak an exact copy of the template. Then mark and drill your holes, but you can't bolt the seat to the tin so you have to use at least a 2x2x1/4" steelplate to brace the floor. No less then 4 grade 8 bolt per seat to hold it down. If you want more details let me know.

bronco buckets are a good bit thicker. Thick enough, if you are fat like me, your'll notices a difference when you swap them in
