I have an Edelbrock 1406 on my 289. This last year I installed an A/C unit. The engine bogs a little at idle with the A/C running. I was told to get an Edlebrock idle step-up model# 8059 to increase the idle speed when the A/C comes on. Here's the problem: The 8059 costs $103. This seems way too expensive for a small solenoid. That's almost half the cost of the whole carb. Is there another brand that I can use that will fit and won't cost an arm and a leg? John
go to the wreckers preferably a self-serve one and get the fast idle solenoid from a carbed vehicle and mount appropriately with a connection to the hot wire to your a/c so that when the a/c kicks in it also opens the solenoid, should cost pennies and some time.
Thanks, if it ever stops raining long enough, I'm going to check the junk yards and see if I can find a nice one. Even if it a little grungy I can R&R it to be respectable. John
