Windstar Van Cuts out upon start up
Hi. I am new to this board, so I hope I am posting this question correctly. My brother in law just gave me his 1995 Windstar Van. Nice Guy! Well, my wife had it today and the van cut out on her on a hill. It will start right back up and then cut out immediately. I'm guessing fuel fliter, pump or relay. But since I don't really know Fords, I am asking for your help. What do you all think? Many thanks. George

Definitly the fuel filter getting cloged. In some areas they have started taking out the MTBE from the gas. THe MTBE leaves a coating in the fuel system. When you switch over to the regular gas all of that coating starts to brake up. This usually clogs the filter. Change your filter make sure this eliminates your problem then run some fuel injector cleaner through it. Then change your filter a few months down the road again.

I was going to change out all the fluids and filters as routine maintenance of inheriting a used vehicle. So this could turn out to be a $10 fix. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it goes. George
