Is there anyone else out there that is disappointed in their computer code as far as performance and economy. Adding a chip adds a lot i know. but my buddy and i have the same chip and pretty much the same truck, i have CC he has SC and he just smokes me in a race and dynos more HP than i do. His truck is a 2000. I am also disappointed in the torque converter for 2001. His power "Kicks in" much quicker than mine. I think that also makes a difference. Any suggestions?

Find out what his is. You can have two identical trucks that operate completely differently due to different codes. We generally use NVK3 - NVK5 code with trucks that originally have PMT codes because they work better.
I am completely confused about these computer codes. How does one know what code is flashed into the ECU and if I want mine flashed with a new code, say PMT3, is that something that the Ford dealership does?
Also, how would I know if some yahoo (service tech) flashed my ECU for some reason?

Now reflashing from PMT to NVK, does that involve just having the ECM reflashed or do i have to but a new computer. I talked to someone who had a 2001 and bought an 2002 computer for his truck and has had better results.

The dealership can do it, but usually will not do it just because you ask them to. There has to be a reason and each code is recommended by specific TSBs for specific reasons.

If you can find an old sticker under a new one, that's a good indicator, otherwise you'd need a dealership to look it up.

It involves reflashing the computer or using a 4 bank chip programmed for NVK.
