I am getting a 1962 ford unibody truck on friday have been wanting truck since I was 17. Am 33 now. Anyway the truck has had several motors since purchased. The last being a 312. My uncle ran the truck a few years ago it bent a pushrod. He recently changed the push rod but has not run the truck since. Dad picked it up and is bring it here. I need to know what is causing the problem and everything I have read is not helping. Any good advice or sites, books anything would help. Thank you.
Let me add some more things to check. Some times these engins dont pump oil up to the rocker arms and the rockers will get tight and bend a push rod. Also these engines have solid lifters and if the valves are adjusted to tight they will bend the push rods. The valve lash should be set at .019 hot. Have fun with your new truck. And let us know what you find.
