Drain gastank ?

What is the best way to drain my front tank? I filled it last week and the next day the pump stopped working. I think dropping it would be easer than lifting the bed. Can you get a hose past the check valve? Thanks SAV

Trust me, dropping it *IS* easier than lifting the bed, unless the truck is brand spanking new and the bolts aren't stuck.

Otherwise, you'll be making headless bolts very quickly. Been there done that.

I siphon gas out both my tanks all the time for mowers, chainsaws, etc, but I have a somewhat stiff siphon hose. Its essentially a 8' length of fuel line hose.

Pushes right in past the check point no problem. SOmetimes it requires a little wiggling.

BTW, I highly recommend using a Ford pump. I've had problems with aftermarket pumps before, and doing this job twice is not fun.

Good luck!

I siphon gas into generators out of both tanks routinely.
I use what looks like a 3/8" OD hose.
So yes you can get a hose into the tank to drain it.

I'm replacing the tanks on my truck. I went the remove the bed route -- cut the bolts if there thoroughly rusted.
