I didn't get any bites on my last post, so I've reposted. Are there any car audio install guys out there that can answer my question?
If anyone is not understanding my question I can clarify. Here is what I want to do
I just recently traded in my 00 Expy for an 04. I pulled my JVC radio from the 00 and want to of course put it into my 04. Will the installation kit and wiring harness work in the 04? This will save me about 25-30 bucks.
All installers say it won't, but I'm weary. The size of the opening looks the same, so it looks like the kit will work. I have no clue on the wiring harness.
I just feel if they can make an extra 25-30 bucks they will.
i think it should be the same. you could take a multimeter to it and find out which wire is which. just touch the negative to the ground (should be black) and test the ignition and so on.
So it's not a matter of peg "A" fitting into peg "B" but whether the wires are configured the same to power the Head unit. I have no clue on radio installation and wiring. So I'm definitely using a poor choice of words.
As for the Installation kit, the size of the opening for a 2000 and 2004 look exactly the same. So at the worst all I should need is a new wiring harness? And not a spacer (lack of a better way to describe it)
