Is there any one chip that is preffered for normal use over the others? I realize this is a matter of opinion, but I thought there might be one that stands out more than others. thanks again for ALL the great info!

I am by far no expert in the matter, but I am also looking at getting a chip and have done quite a bit of research and have decided to go with the 3 position Bullydog flip chip.
i also went with a flip chip but by "western diesel". the chip i have is a 3 position unit- economy +70hp, tow+50hp,and high output +100 hp. it works very well and when i have questions about it or other operations on my truck the guys at western diesel are very, very helpfull. they have also come out with a 4 position switch that adds a "stock" setting that i think would be very helpfull. a couple things when you put a chip in you shifts are all and always much harder(better for the trans not so good for just driving around town) you will also notice that your tourque converter is locked up so much its almost like driving with a manual clutch, this is what took me the most time to get used to, but after a while you learn to be more smooth with your foot on and off the gas pedal (why a stock setting would be nice while driving around town with the kids or taking the wife to dinner)
Well what do you mean by "normal use" cuz it all depends on what you do/plan to do with your truck. It's the difference between getting a custom tuned flip chip, like i have...or a flip chip with standard tuning for a mostly stock/mildly modded truck...
