i was rear ended on friday, and i just went and got a quote today on the damages. the trucks in the sig if you want to know what it is. i was quoted $1900. is the truck going to be declared total? it is or was in pretty good condition before the wreck, but i know its not worth very much. any ideas?
I would be careful, and do some checking on the internet and the like with the latest price quotes from like Kelly Blue Book and such. Because those insurance companies like to total cars ***** nilly. I had a friend who had a 1986 Camaro and he got into an accident (not his fault at all) and the insurance company would rather total the car than just pay for the parts (which is less without labor) and let him fix it himself. So he went out and bought a 1989 Camaro :-P HA HA HA on the insurance company for trying to get his old car off the road. anyway just do some checking so its not a surprise and remember from all of the official quotes that they can get the company will go with the LOWEST one they find.
go with retail, because thats what it will take to replace it. insurance will usually give you that amount. if not, get a new carrier. my last car that got totaled i got the retail value of it.
Insurance companies total autos at 75% of actual cash value (ACV). ACV is determined by obtaining the price of three comparable (same year, make, miles, options, etc.) trucks in the market area and average the price to determine ACV.
Buddy of mine had a firebird that felt like meeting a calf. The damage was $5500. Just the popup head light, one popup headlight, was a grand. He bought it for less than that but they didn't total it. Don't know what the insurance companies name was.

um the insurance of the person at fault is supposed to pay for the damages, not my insurance........
i know, i was saying for you to get an idea of what they are looking at, they look at retail value. i don't know why i said get a new carrier, i ment sue them.
