If anyone's interested, I finally posted some of my truck work in progress pictures in my gallery named "My truck". I got some decent shots of my new floor pans and shoulder seat belt brackets. I also liked my pic of all the metal cut out of the cab. It's like little bits of rusty history....Scott
Thanks. I guess since I can't work on it now I can scan and post the pics I've taken of my truck. I have a lot more to dig out if I can find them in the rubble. We're gettin by, but it's a major pain. I now have to take my 65 Mustang in for an estimate because the door and cowl was scratched up by the fire dept breaking out the garage glass to check for fire on that side of the house. Aaargh!
Oh, I have to go with my flatty V8, all dressed up of course. Got the truck from my dad 12 years ago, but he would still shoot me if I changed that out. I'm keeping the flatty and 3 on the tree, but updating the rear axle and doing the power assist steering on the I beam. Just a little modernization, but love the flathead rumble.
I'm going to keep the original gauges. It took me nearly a year, but I tracked down a whole NOS set of gauges piece by piece, mostly from Ebay. I like the look of the old gauges; I think the script of the letters on the gauges and numbers on the speedometer just have a real "50's" look to them so I don't want to change them. My old fuel and temp gauges were acting up and I was just going to replace them but once I found new ones their non-faded faces didn't match the old amp and oil gauges. I've converted to 12 volts and have the runtz resistors on them and they worked great. I do plan on having the trim rings rechromed and getting some smoked glass to replace the clear glass on the front.
I don't know how accurate my fuel gauge will be when I get the mustang tank installed, figure I'll fill the tank a gallon at a time and see where it's reading. Hopefully will be somewhat accurate. I'll probably hide a volt gauge somewhere like the glove compartment just to keep the dash from being cluttered since the amp gauge doesn't help a lot on 12 volt, other than show discharge.
i found a 70s ford step van with the same style gauges and the good thing is they are 12v the i am going to take out the 4 individual pieces and put them in my 51 cluster
