curious..

this may seem like a dumb question but I am curious how some folks on this boards get those "stars" by their name OR they get feedback points. How do you get them? I take it that those that have them are long time users with many posts??
am I mistaken? thanks guys for the input!

regards
ben

I'm not a guy, but maybe I can help.

Under most user names is a "rate this user" that you can go in and rate that person for resolving a problem or give you a bad rating if you ticked them off or whatever. You are not suppose to rate yourself. The more people that have been pleased with your comments or assistance to the point they want to rate you, the more stars you get (I believe a max of 5 start). You also have the option to turn this feature off if you do not want anyone to "rate" you.

Personally, I don't agree with anyone giving negative ratings and will never do so myself. Everyone is here to get and/or give help or just for pure entertainment.

I agree. I would never give negative rating. But I got one, which I think was totally misdirected, so I turned it off.

I found with the rating system, you have to give a little to get a little. Once you begin to particpate in it and give others positive feedback, you will begin to collect some as well.

In that respect it's sort of a reflection of your good 'ol boy/girl network here at FTE.

I wouldn't give anyone negative feedback because IMHO, it says more negative about the rater than the ratee. It's also permanent proof that you temporarily lost your cool.
