The 2000 F-350 cc/dually died at 1:30 AM on the Interstate somewhere north of Atlanta. It had 35,6XX miles when we left home for a week end at the F-100 Nationals in Tenn. It had 36,184 as we coasted to a stop on the way up. The rear end broke again. I have had it to two different dealers who attempted to fix it while under warrantee, they obviously both failed. The original $6,000. bill has been trimmed back to $1,917.07 and the customer service representative at Ford Motor Co. and her supervisor tell me to take it or leave it, final offer. I'm out about $400 dollars between motel and car rentals to get me and my family back home to central Florida and still have the expense of retrieving the truck in Atlanta. I have a 2N Ford tractor, 66 F-100, 74 F-100, daughters 94 Explorer, son's 97 F-150, oldest son's 01 F-250 and a 94 Harley Davidson in addition to the F-350. What would you do?
I haven't discussed the guarante with them, but 12,000 mi. will probably be the limit. They indicate that they will make a 6 year, 100,000 insurance package available, but that's another two grand with a $100 deductable. Does Hundai make a truck? I bet the rear end will last longer than 36,184 miles without the two rebuilds thrown in that mine has already had.
Man that really, really sux. I'd be calling up the shop that did the first TWO!! repairs and make sure they understand that either they pony up some cash assistance or lose all your business in the future.
