Sparkplugs

Since I'm new to this site, I've been reading "threads" on the topic of sparkplugs. You guys are startin' to scare me...

I replaced the plugs in my '97 F250, 5.4L at 68K miles.
Fortunately, the engine was out of the truck when I did it.
(That's another story.)

I know I put in platinum plugs, but can't remember whether they were "double" or not; nor can I remember what brand they were. (I know they weren't MotorCraft.) Maybe Bosch, maybe Autolite....I dun't remember!

Anywho, I gots 84K now on the ole odemeter, and I'm wonderin',
am I in for big trouble?

Probably not, I have had bad experiences with the Bosch platinums with the center electrode falling out and ruining the cylinder wall. I have read another post or two about this too.
If you are concerned, I would go ahead and change them to the Motorcraft double platinums to be safe. It isn't the easiest job, but it is easier than pulling the engine if it were to happen.

bosch plugs suck in the mod motors.

Run a motorcraft or autolite (same plug) for more reliability and power.

For now, whatever plug I installed is staying.
The truck runs great.

PS: Justin, thanks for the tip on the MAF, I did what you suggested, and the "check engine" light is off for now.

i tried using bosch platinum 4's in my 88 ranger...ended up melting 1 of the plugs completely...truck missed and hesistated like CRAZY with those high priced POSs...put stock motorcrafts in there and truck ran AWESOME...had bad experiences with boschs on a GMC sierra as well...they just SUCK

always stick with a stock replacement plug from your manufacturer (IE ac delco for GM and motorcraft for Ford)

cool deal, glad to hear it.

Always come on here and ask your questions on the forums, there is alot of knowledgeable help, alot of stuff that a mechanic won't tell you because most of them are just seeing dollar signs when you bring your truck in.

I have saved myself thousands of dollars by asking questions on forums and fixing the problem myself.
