Defrost Prob
Have a 01 150 four door. Recently the defrost stopped working. The air is not making it to the windshield.
The air flows from the panel and the floor just fine, closing at the appropriate times. Air comes from nowhere when its on the defrost only setting.
You hear the little flaps opening and closing, but obviously one is not working.
Its 26 degrees right now, with strong wind making it abou 8 degrees. Had ice the last couple of days and without air to the windshield there is no way to keep her thawed.
Anyone have this happen ? Suggestions appreciated
Was hoping someone would have had the same problem.
avoid tearing into the vent assembly unnecessarily if possible

Did you get it figured out yet?
Under the dash near the throttle pedal are the vacuum motors for the heater doors. You should be able to see them working or not when you move the control from one setting to another.
Take a look at the vacuum hoses and make sure they are all attached and no holes in them or anything.
If you pull the trim off around the stereo (remove the stereo first) you might be able to tell where the air is going. Also the long oval cover on the top of the dash pulls off and you might be able to see something in there too.
Let us know what you find please as I've never seen this problem before.
You might also try asking in the heating/cooling forum which is a ways further down on the main forum page.

Going over to my brother in laws later, as he has a heated garage. I will check into the things you said. I listened very carefully last night and swore I heard a faint vacum leak somewhere. If it is a leak, it must not be bad enough to prevent the other acutators from working, just the defrost..
Before I tear into the dash too deep, I'll probably take her in to the dealer. I have an extended warranty on her and its covered.
I will search the air/cooling again, and deffinitely keep you posted on what I find.
Thanks again..
Brian
