I can't recall if there is a difference between the Navi and the Expy (I have the Navi) but has anyone done a direct replacement for the backup lights? I always think I could use a bit more light when I am backing up.
In previous vehicles, I always found that upgrading the bulbs in the factory housing was a lost cause...the housings are always very poorly designed. For a real upgrade, some aftermarket lights mounted below the bumper/behind the hitch are usually your best bet.
I do know that, at my local pep boys, they listed 2 upgrade bulbs for my backup lights on the expy. One was a long-life bulb and the other was reputedly brighter. I haven't tried either on this truck.
Backup lights are designed to warn other drivers of your intentions, not to see well.
I tried upgraded bulbs and found that
the design and location of the lens so high above the ground just didn't work well. I mounted fog lights below the bumper and used them for five years. They lighted well but were forever getting full of mud, slush and water though I tried to seal them with silicone. Last fall I mounted some cheap ($20 for the pair at AutoZone) 55 watt driving lights above the bumper on the ends. So far, so good. Excellent light, no slush or mud reaches them.
See pictures in my gallery on this forum.
Incidentally, I use a separate switch tied to my low beam circuit so I can't accidently turn them on in day time, but will be able to use them with engine off and gear in park. That facilitates boat ramp and trailer setup work.
TS: Your mountings on the rear bumper are tasetful. I didn't think it would look good but it does. If I can find a way to hide them otherwise, this may be the route I take.
I mounted 2 cheap (if they break I don't cry) lights on my towing assembly. I wired them into my existing backup lights and now I can see when backing up. I placed 3 pics in my gallery.
The whitenight is a nice looking setup for the street. Think about it twice if you take it off the pavement. I drag my trailer hitch frequently going up or down arroyos, river banks, etc. I'd hate to drag off such a nice looking and expensive setup.
