Not even close.
The price quote I received after totalling it was $5-7 thousand.
Talk about deliberately screwing w/ the facts. sheesh

Call up clifford, and tell them you need a 600HP 300. and then perpare to spend about $20,000.

it can be done, but I doubt it can be done for under $10,000

I was just estimating. I didn't see you post any quotes for other than a 245hp 6, unless I missed them.

You'll spend upwards of $7000-9000 on a 351W getting it to put out 600HP, depending on how you do it. You will need close to 600HP to get a '78 f-100 to run low 11s. Heck, you need 600HP to get a mustang into the 10s, and thats with a 3100lb car, not a 4500+ lb truck.

245HP is not enough juice to run a truck into the 11s. maybe 14s, but not 11s.

Gentlemen it does not take 600 hp to run 10's in a 3100 lb mustang. The new cobras are making 375 at the rear wheels and they will run mid 12 showroom stock with good driving. If and this is a big IF you can make the truck hook you can run low 11's with nowhere near 600hp. 600 hp will make it much easier to run that fast but most of it will be wasted if all you are running is 11's.

Just out of curiousity, I used one of the ET to horsepower converters available on the web.

4500 lbs, 11.98 ET requires 517 hp

I am not stating this as a fact!

I had a 85 Mustang GT, 3000 lbs (with me in it), 275 RWHP, 4.10 gears, and the best I ever did was high 12's (1000 ft altitude).

Donsboy-

as steell pointed out, HP has to increase exponentially as the ET is lowered.

550HP in a mustang should produce about a 10.8.

check this link:
http://raceabilene.com/kelly/hotrod/estqtret_calc.html

it'll give you an idea, I just ran 550HP (thats at the rear wheels, not the flywheel) w/ 3200lbs, and it gave me 10.48. 550HP from the flywheel would be closer 10.8s.

btw: 600HP (@ the rear wheels) on a 4600lb truck 11.49.

600HP at the flywheel with 85% efficently on driveline is 510HP to the ground, and the estimate is 12.13.

Anyone can make a guess, but the fact is, you need a lot of juice to make that kinda power, and it a lot of money to get that kinda power any way.
