Blackstone Address Needed (Oil analysis)

Hello all,

On several other posts people have talked about sending their oil our for analysis to a company called Blackstone.

No where did I ever read about an address or telephone number to call and/or a website to learn more.

Even though I am not experiencing the problems some of you are having, it may be a nice analysis to have for my own background.

Please post Name, Address, Phone, Website and costs.

Thanks,

I've never had an oil analysis on any of my current and/or past diesels hence I can't tell you the cost and/or much about the value in getting analysis done - unless your into extended drain intervales for which I've always changed by diesel oil very 3K miles.

Vellingapa,

You must be loaded with $$$$$$$.

You change your diesel oil every 3,000 miles.... why?

The book says 5,000 for severe service and 7,500 for normal.

Due to the cost for oil changes for the 6.0L PSD, it seems you are either loaded with cash or just very overly conservitive?

Obviously nothing run with changing at 3,000 mile intervals, but all I have read and heard is that there is no increased benefit that you will know or recognize.

Thanks for the website address for Blackstone and good luck and good day to you.

Thanks,

I just got my 6.0 - the 5,000/7,500 interval is new to the 6.0 engine. The recommended change interval on my previous 7.3L was 3,000/5000 and GM 6.5 was 3,000. I live in an artic climate, make quite a few short-trips and also tow fairly regulary hence I usually keep to the severe duty schedule.

I only have 1,100 miles on my 6.0 so far hence have not changed the oil yet..... I do plan on taking my truck in to have its spray in bedliner installed in mid-Feburary and the oil will be changed early to get rid of the break in oil. It will be changed again in mid-May just prior to a 2,300 mile drive towing the horse trailer from AK to WA.

As for being loaded - No not even close- I WISH I WAS......
Its been my experience that most Ford oil changes are free - Ford dealers seem to like to give away coupons for free oil changes. They just seem to come in the mail as rewards for poor service and/or as a incentive to bring the truck in. Maybe its an Alaska Ford dealer thing but they seem to give away a lot of oil changes and given the cost of an diesel oil change I welcome them. Of course I use all my coupons for the diesel vs other car (e.g. no limitations on the type of oil change other then the coupons are only good for 6 months).
Based on what I read on this site, Ford seems to be fairly liberial about giving away oil changes hence I assumed it was just a Ford thing - from your post I gather not.

P.S. Right now I'm not putting that many miles on my truck hence yes the oil is probably changed more then it need be. When I'm paying (wth the 7.3) I'd usually change somewhere between 3K and 5K miles vs right at 3K. Probably will change at 5,000 with the 6.0 when I have to pay.

From what I hear on this site a free dealer oil change could be risky with the 6.0 (get flashed) but give my current poor fuel mileage on the Oct flash I guess I'm not too concerned with getting a new flash (folks seem to think the new flash is better.)
