I use the Sylvania Silverstars and like them. Better than stockers and much better with the SilverStars in the foglights. I know you don't have foglights but this might be your in-expensive solution.
SILVERSTARS!!!!!!!! The only way to go! I just installed them in my headlights. I have had them in the fogs for almost a year. Now the whole truck matches! Nice and bright with no blue tint! Just a pure white light!
Originally posted by mistercmk What type of bulb goes in the fogs of my 2k, and the headlights? ex. 9004, 9007, etc...
9007's for the headlights,,,,straight replacement.
9005's for the foglights with a tiny modification. Silverstar doesn't make direct replacements yet but the 9005's are brighter anyway. Remove the old bulb, remove the 2 screws from the back of the foglight. The plastic mounting plate will come off. Put the 9005 up to it and you will see where you need to shave a hair off the plastic plate to allow the bulb tab to catch. Use a dremel, rotozip or even a razor. Took me all of 15 minutes to remove, modify and replace both foglight bulbs. They make a HUGE difference!!!
Just a question, are the fogs in a 2K Navi the same as being discussed here? I changed my fogs out for a bulb that is non-shrouded. I was hoping to fin a 100w bulb but the one I found that would fit the housing was, I think, 45w, which, I believe, replaces the stock 28 28 watt bulbs.
Question for you fellow fte guys i was at wal mart & saw an arp
plasma blue bulb claiming 4000k degrees of light output, that is
only 1thousand kelvin degrees shy of sunlight & i also saw the silverstars, the silverstars seem to be close to the output capicity of the blue plasma but, has anyone used these two bulb types to be able to give us the 411 on this subject. Just this past week we
took a trip on which HEAVY fog was on about 250 miles of my 350
mile trip at times the mixture of HEAVY fog, drizzle, heavly overcast
clouds,& night driving was scary at times & the only lights that could penertate the mixture were the blue hid & these arp bulbs claim virtual hid preformance, can anyone help me make a good decision on the two choices.

Ok here's the deal.... I started with factory bulbs.... they are trash. I then switched over to Super blue bulbs...not too bad, but not what I was looking for. I then got a set of Xenon toucan bulbs, these are better than superblue's but still not what I was looking for. I installed a set of Silverstars in my fogs.... WOW! these things a friggen awesome! I then waited patiently for a bulb to go out in my wifes car.... sure enough, one went out. Both vehicles take the same bulb so I put the Toucans in her Taurus and got a set of Silverstars for the Expedition. They are by far the best bulbs that I have seen on the market! Keep in mind, this is just my opinion, but I have heard of no complaints with these bulbs! just my .02
I like Sylvania Silverstars too! I think they will give you the most bang for your buck! I plan on going a step up and upgrading my headlights to Halo's!
TurboTed,
For fog, snow or rain driving you want light that is yellow to amber. Less light is reflected, or scattered, and your eye chemistry will respond with greater acuity. Bright white is great for good weather only. Blue white will fool you and tire your eyes more quickly if used for very long.
It's definitely worth the money to get a separate set of fog lights with yellow to amber lens or bulbs, and proper cutoff on top. Then use whatever you want in your regular headlighrs.
I use 80 watt golden white bulbs in my fogs and like them in peasoup fog conditions.
tsdrallyer: Thanks for the info i was not aware of those details
this will help in my decision. And about those halos tell us how those do in the future.

From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Am I the only one who noticed that the stock headlights on our 2003 Expedition EB are brighter than any stock system I've ever seen? Even my buddy's BMW Xenons are only slightly better than the stock headlights on the Expedition! Don't get me wrong, I've got a list of gripes about a mile long about our experience with this truck, but the headlights are incredible. Or did we just get lucky in this regard somehow?
