OK, this will be my first paint job ever. I'm wanting to prepare myself elegently. Meaning I would rather have more then enough then not enough, expecially in the small town I live has to special order auto paint.
I'm wanting to know about how much I should purchase to do my 1988 F-150 4X4.
I'm planning on doing exterior, interior, door jambs, & engine compartment.
How much Primer?
How much Paint?
How much Hardener?
How much Clear Coat?
How much Reducer?
I'm looking at the Hawthorne Rayflex Acrylic Enamel right now as stated in another thread. That may change depending on the feedback I get.
I forgot to mention that it is a standard cab with the 8' bed.
I'm thinking of a two toned paint job with the second tone (color) acting as stripping. I am also painting the steel alloy wheels to match the truck.
I used less than 3/4 gallon of single-stage paint on my recently painted rig. This included doing the interior/jambs, but NOT the interior of the bed or the engine compartment. Judge accordingly.
The amount of reducer, hardener, is directly related to the mix formula for the manufacturer of the paint and the clear. Make sure primer paint and clear is compatible . there is a company in NJ. that sells Hawthorne-Rayflex on e-bay motors. They could probably answer the compatibility and amount questions I think they have toll free number. Good Luck!
