a lot of general info, but nothing specific yet - I'll keep looking. I was hoping someone here could decipher.
I have a guy trying to tell me this truck is a 351 when any fool can tell it's a 302. I just want to prove it...j

all of the sites so far simply tell me what each character represents (1st character country, 2nd character manufacturer, etc.), not its actual value on this particular VIN. Anyone know of a site that will decipher the values?

Even though the VIN says it is a 302 it could have been swapped out for the 351 at sometime. Unless you have owned the truck from new.

I got the same info from CarFax, too, and two other sites as well. Did all the 5.8s have "5.8" plastered on the upper intake runner? If not, it has a 302 intake on it because the 5.8 is not up there. And it's possible that someone swapped, changed the wiring, and kept the 302 upper, if that would work.
He says that he changed the plug wires and that the firing order was 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 (351) and NOT 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (302). I need to look at the distributor cap: 1-3 or 1-5 is easy.
