My overdrive light is blinking. The manual says take it to the dealer, its a problem w/ the tranny. I checked the tranny fluid and its fine. No burnt smell. The truck drives the same as it always has. I know I should take it in. But I would like to try everything I can first so I don't get screwed over by the tranny place. any help would be greatly appreciated
My 2000 f150 started making whining noises 1st..Then the od light started blinking...b4 I could get it to the garage it started to clunk in & out of gears, then I lost all forward drive & then reverse...towed it to the dealer & the pan was full of gear parts & pieces...tranny was replaced (70,000mi),,thank god for extended warranty..They replaced it in 1-day,no ?'s asked!...fluid looked fine......take it to the shop!!!!!
The flashing OD light works sort of like the Check Engine light.
When it is flashing it means the trucks PCM has seen something it doesnt like and is telling you that. The problem is probably a sensor such as the VSS but like motox411 said it's time to take it in and get it scanned and see what's up. Usually it's nothing too serious but you dont want to destroy it.
