overheating
i overheated my 2.8 and ended up cracking the heads now iam thinking if the heads cracked maybe just maybe could the block allso be cracked...?Or is that a uncommon thing to happen.I dont want to put the new heads back on only to find out the block's cracked and there's water still getting in my oil you know what i mean.So what do you all think could the block allso be cracked or is this very unlikely. The day i cracked the heads and overheated the engine it was like -10 and while it was sitting at home broken down in my driveway during the cold spell one of the frost plugs on the lower block poped out now that could be a good thing but with the overheating then having it get cold and having what water was in the block freeze and having a frost plug fall out iam a little worried about the block.
maybe.
the frost plug is the weakest piont in a block and is desiged to go first, as the frozen liqiud expands it will expand out the frost plug
but once it reaches a certain freeze point. frost plug wont do any good, it'll just expand and crack the block.(it has to go some where) your guess is as good as mine, wether or not the blocks cracked , as far as the heads' their probaly toasted
