Hey all
Iwent out this morning and started the truck and when it started
the idle went up to 2000 rpm for about 3 min. Then the idle
dropped to 1800,and ther it stays. does anybody have any ideas
what causes this?

any help will be appreciated.
My V-10 did the same thing and then it started to immediately quit once it was started unless the RPM's were at 2000. It got to the point that it would stop when you slowed to go around a sharp turn. I sent it to the shop and replaced the fuel filter and tuned it up. That did not help so I sent it to the dealer and left it over night because they could not find it once the vehicle was warm. It turned out to be a fuel sensor and since mine was not under warranty, it caost me $150.00 or so. My suggestion to you is---your are in the first stages of this sensor failing so I would have it replaced
IAC valve ( idle air control ) Go to the Superdurt FAQ and look under engine and drive train for idling problems. The part is around $80.00 and will take 30 minutes to replace. This is a very common problem on V-10's.

Thanks for the info.
Can I clean the IAC valve and have the same results as new?
Some of the threads I have read says cleaning works also,
If this is a PITA to remove I only want to do it once.
Typically, cleaning and IAC does not work. Replacement is the best method for getting rid of the problem. BTW, I have no idea what a fuel sensor is. I don't believe there is such a thing.
Hey gmsux Cool name!
I think I will replace the part and like you said be done with it.
I hate to change the part twice.
Can I get the IAC valve at auto zone or is it a dealer part only?
I put the name together a few years ago when I was doing a lot of specialty work on EFI mustangs, thought I'd bring it with me to the truck forums now that I'll be joining the V10 ranks soon....You should be able to get the IAC from napa or wherever.
